However, the brand-new iPhone 17 Air comes with a surprisingly smaller battery than the iPhone 16 Plus it replaces, raising questions about efficiency and performance.
According to recent leaks shared by X users Abhishek Yadav and ShrimpApplePro, the iPhone 17 will feature a 3,692mAh battery, roughly a 3.6% increase over the previous model. The iPhone 17 Pro will pack a 4,252mAh battery, marking an 18.6% jump compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max includes a 5,088mAh cell, an 8.6% improvement over last year.
The iPhone 17 Air, on the other hand, is expected to carry a 3,149mAh battery, making it almost 48% smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus. This suggests Apple may be relying on the efficiency of the new A19 Pro chipset to compensate for the reduced capacity. If the chip’s improvements hold true, the smaller battery may still deliver adequate performance and longevity.
