Honor has officially unveiled the design of its upcoming Magic 8 Pro, confirming that the flagship will debut with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a brand-new dedicated AI button. The device is set to launch in China on October 15, 2025, with a wider European release expected early next year.
The addition of an AI button marks the most notable design change compared to last year’s Magic 7 Pro. Located on the phone’s side alongside the fingerprint sensor and volume rocker, the button is designed to activate Honor’s expanding suite of AI-powered features. One of the first tools is Magic Color, which allows users to restyle photos and videos by borrowing the color palette from another image. More AI-driven capabilities are expected to be revealed at launch.

In terms of aesthetics, the Magic 8 Pro bears a strong resemblance to its predecessor, though it now sports a flat back and straight sides, ditching the subtle curvature of the Magic 7 Pro. Honor has showcased the device in a light blue finish, a shade similar to last year’s lineup.
On the rear, the Magic 8 Pro houses a circular camera island. While it appears to have four lenses, it’s likely a combination of three main sensors plus a ToF (time-of-flight) depth sensor. Honor’s CMO Guo Rui recently teased a sample photo taken with a 200MP telephoto camera featuring an 85mm-equivalent f/2.6 lens. This represents a significant upgrade over the Magic 7 Pro’s 72mm periscope lens, suggesting improved long-range photography.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will power not only the Magic 8 Pro but also the broader Magic 8 series, including the upcoming MagicPad 3 Pro tablet. Rival brands like Xiaomi and POCO are also adopting Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor in their respective 2025 launches, setting up a competitive landscape in the premium smartphone segment.
Honor is expected to unveil at least two models—the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro—at the October launch event, with rumors hinting at an Ultra and Mini variant arriving in 2026. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but based on the Magic 7 Pro’s European release, the Magic 8 Pro will likely retail above €1,000 (around $1,200).
